Gender Equality

Gender Equality

Gender inequality is prevalent in all cultures, so women's empowerment and gender equality are high on the agendas in Nepal. Our society is deeply rooted in patriarchy. Women have been oppressed in almost all spheres of society due to patriarchal thinking and denial of rights and freedom. Women are confined to their traditional roles and are expected to behave in a way considered correct or appropriate by society. To achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls" is known as the stand-alone gender goal, because it is dedicated to achieving these ends. To ensure women's rights throughout Nepal, significant legal and legislative changes are required. There is still a long way to go to achieve full equality of rights and opportunities between men and women. It is therefore essential to end multiple forms of gender-based violence (GBV) and ensure that women and men have equal access to quality education and quality health, economic resources, and participation in political life.
