Women empowerment through Sports

Women empowerment through Sports

Sports can be a powerful force for gender equality by instilling in women and girls the values of teamwork, self-reliance, and resilience. It can help girls understand their bodies, gain confidence, and develop the ability to speak up, especially during adolescence, when the pressure to fit into traditionally "feminine" stereotypes causes many girls to completely give up sports. Sport has been recognized as a powerful tool for strengthening women's voices and breaking down gender barriers and discrimination. Women in sports resist the stereotype of being weak or incapable. Women in sports confound gender stereotypes and social norms, serve as inspiring role models, and demonstrate equality between men and women. Sports help women gain strength, confidence, and self-esteem. Shelter Ashraya Nepal provides football coaching and different sports training to young girls so that they can understand equality from an early age.
